After 8 years Robert Kubica will finally make his F1 comeback. It has been confirmed today that Robert Kubica will partner George Russell at Williams for the 2019 season.
Kubica narrowly missed out on a seat for this season when the team opted for Sergey Sirotkin after evaluating the pair in the post Abu Dhabi test. 1 year later though Kubica will replace Sirotkin, sponsorship has like last year played a part in the teams decision making but this is a good new story for F1.
Kubica has been the teams test and reserve driver this season and has taken part in 2 of 3 scheduled Friday Practice sessions this year where he has favoured well again this teammates. Kubica will also take part in practice this weekend but now as a confirmed driver for 2019.
Before his rally crash which left part of his arm amputated Kubica was tipped as a future Ferrari driver and potential world champion. This was sadly never realised but it is a great news to see the Pol return to the sport.
